Siberian Husky for Adoption
Gis bort
Beskrivelse av varen
Alder: 4 år eller eldre
We adopted Warvick last april when he was 5 years old. Previous owners stated they couldent give him enough activity. Turns out there are a few other things......
Before I go in detail:
The ideal owner for Warvick would be a single male who regularly goes on adventures in nature.
-Reactive to other dogs.
-Started showing fixation on some women.
-He has medical issues (allergies), for which he gets Apoquel. He deals well with a quarter pill per day which comes out to roughly 8kr/day.
The positive things first:
For a Husky he is incredibly calm. He can easily sleep most of the day by himself. He likes pretty much any other person and only shows some fear when new people unannounced come into the house (which is to be expected). He is fantastic to take on nature trips, is confident in any situation, sleeps anywhere, no matter the conditions and is comfortable travelling for long hours.
Emotionally he can be incredibly perceptive if a family member shows signs of distress and actively tries to comfort. He is used to both biking and skiing and even tho he doesent quite show the "drive" as trained sled dogs, he works well in either activity.
His "problem" history:
We adopted him when he was 5 with the idea that he just needs to have a family that can give him more activity. After we got him we discovered that his allergies were quite intense if not treated with Apoquel (100stk, 3000kr). He showed intense reactivity to other dogs and trying to introduce him (slowly) to dogs ended up in fights. He gets extensive daily exercise, both mental and physical. When we adopted him he was chemically castrated, which eventually ran out around September. Since then his reactivity (also due to a lot of training) to other dogs (animals) has decreased, which makes us think it is anxiety related. However, he recently started fixating (sexually) on my female partner. To the extent that she had to stop taking him out on her own, because he would not stop jumping, grabbing, holding her. We are unsure where the fixation is coming from. He gets enough activity and stimulation and doesent necessarily show this behaviour with others.
We are at a point where we cannot have a normal life with him anymore and are starting to run out of ideas and energy.
Talking to multiple vets has only resulted in the recommendation to euthanize him......
I know it is somewhat of a long shot, but if anyone (preferably male) but possibly an active couple with dog experience, would want to give a generally really great dog a chance, please contact us. Before anyone decides to adopt him, we would highly recommend to have a long chat with us and start by fostering him without commitment for some time.
All equipment, food and just bought medicin (100stk) can join for free.
Thanks.
