Beskrivelse av varen
Tilstand: Pent brukt - I god stand
The number 550 on a North Face jacket refers to the Fill Power of the down insulation inside.
Fill power is a measure of the "loft" or fluffiness of the down. Specifically, it means that one ounce of that down can trap 550 cubic inches of air.
What 550 Means for You
Quality: 550 is the starting point for high-quality down at The North Face (which ranges from 550 to 1,000). It is considered a reliable, "entry-level" premium down.
Warmth: A 550-fill jacket is warm and ideal for everyday winter use, like commuting or walking around town. However, it is generally less warm than a 700 or 800-fill jacket if they have the same weight.
Weight & Bulk: Because 550-fill down is less "fluffy" than higher numbers, you need more of it to reach the same warmth level. This usually makes 550-fill jackets feel a bit heavier and bulkier than more expensive, lightweight technical gear.
Durability: 550-fill down is often very durable for daily wear because the down clusters are slightly larger and less delicate than the ultra-high fill versions.
550 vs. 700 Fill
You will often see the number 700 on popular models like the Nuptse. The main difference is the warmth-to-weight ratio:
550 Fill: Better for casual, everyday use where you don't mind a slightly heavier jacket.
700 Fill: Better for hiking or travel where you want maximum warmth with very little weight and the ability to pack the jacket down small.
Note: All North Face down is certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), ensuring the feathers come from animals that were not subjected to unnecessary harm.
