'The 1400-5100 was part of the short-lived but prestigious "Acier" collection, which was positioned similar to the high-end Credor line.
Originally retailed for 100,000 Yen when realesed in the late 70's.
Polished stainless steel case, clear sapphire crystal, onyx crown.
Seiko Quartz Acier crystallizes reliable quartz into a sophisticated silhouette. Each item is carefully selected and high quality to keep accurate time.
When examining the models displayed in the Acier catalog you note that all of the models have stainless steel cases. From the design and descriptions from both catalogs, and the models presented, it appears that the Acier branding was intended to exist alongside the Credor brand, with the precious metal models under the Credor branding and the high end stainless steel models falling under the Acier branding.
The word "acier" is French for "steel" and Crete d' Or Credor means 'pinnacle of gold. It goes without saying thal these were the basis of the precious metal being used.
It was directly inspired by Genta's Credor as he personally commissioned the Japanese designer, Hattori to work on the Acier collection.
