The optics also provide great bokeh, or the background blur that is coveted when taking photographs in a shallow depth of field.The Canon 200mm f/1.8 telephoto lens uses a highly effective helicoid-type focusing mechanism, which is driven by an ultrasonic motor. The unique mechanism allows users to increase their in-focus hit rate, enabling accurate focus and clear vision. The ultra-shallow depth of field is also extremely effective because it allows the camera to create smooth background blur using the 200mm focal length.Similarly, the distance limiter switch also comes in handy by decreasing the focus acquisition time. As such, users can select from a variety of settings, from 5m to the full range. For professional photographers, the manual focus is controlled by a motorized wire design. Users need to power on the motor to initiate manual focus. One of the most innovative features is the selection of the manual focus speed. The three focus speeds are one-half standard speed for precise use, standard speed for normal use, and double standard speed for fast-moving use. You can also add the Canon 1.4x Extender to create a 280mm f/2.8 configuration.For outdoor photography in a rugged environment, switches and focusing rings have moderate resistant to weather.
