Retail Operations Manager – Maternity Cover

Steen & Strøm is the worlds oldest department store and has been trading in central Oslo since 1797. The department store forms part of the platforms under management of Promenaden AS. 

The Retail Operations Manager (Interim) is pivotal in the success of Steen & Strøm department store; the position interacts with customers, partners, suppliers, teams and tenants. 

The role requires consistentcy, energy, focus and the ability to motivate the retail operation through people ( teams ) both front and back of house. This role reports to the Executive Director of Steen & Strøm department store.

COMPETENTCIES: 

TEAM:

• Motivating diverse teams to achieve sales conversion and annual revenue growth.

• Reporting performance kpi´s to the Promenaden & Store Management teams on a weekly and monthly basis.

• Identifying trends and presenting these within the weekly reporting framework.

• Being part of the Promenaden team, contributing to the growth and success of the organisation.

HOUSE STANDARDS:

• Being an ambassador for Steen & Strøm, the constant improvement of house standards, both front and back of house.

• Ensuring that teams are well presented and follow the Steen & Strøm dress code policy.

VISUAL MERCHANDISING:

• Developing the inhouse visual merchandising competentcy to support the customer experience instore, whilst delivering brand standards.

• Identifying areas for improvement of visual merchandising to drive sales gain and department store brand standards.

PROCESS & SYSTEMS:

• Implementing processes and training initiatives to improve the quality of tenant onboarding, engagement and communication.

• Coordinating the Store Manager Meetings and Monthly Newsletters to improve internal communication, through physical and digital platforms.

• Using the Viametrics, Fenistra, and Retail Excite platforms to define trends and forecasts to support growth.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION:

• Supporting brands, tenants, and internal stakeholders with timely implementation of in-store events, departmental openings, and marketing campaigns.

• Actively driving structured weekly and monthly reporting on the recruitment to the Steen & Strøm Loyalty program.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• EXPERIENCE: You have experience of 3-5 years working in retail standalone environments, hospitality or shopping centre management. Previous exposure to Beauty & Fashion in a fast paced environment would be helpful. You are a champion for excellence and comfortable working as a team member.

• FOCUS: You are well organised and manage time effectively, enjoy working with people and leading teams for success. 

• BRAND: You are comfortable with Luxury, Elevated Contemporary and Premium brand mixes, previous exposure to Food & Beverage formats is also beneficial.
