Job title: Director HSEQ
Reports to: CEO
Reporting to the position: all members of the HSEQ department
Role purpose:
The Director HSEQ is, on behalf of the CEO of Edda Wind, responsible for setting up the general health, safety, security, environmental protection (HSSE) and quality assurance (QA) policies and requirements applicable to Edda Wind and affiliates, and for monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of the management system within these Companies.
Accountable for company compliance with relevant ISM, ISO and OHSAS standards.
The Director HSEQ is the appointed “Designated Person” (ISM Code) for Edda Wind.
Key areas of responsibility:
- The Director HSEQ has been authorized and instructed to prepare, implement and keep the Company's Management System per the Company Policies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant certifications and standards.
- Lead the HSEQ department and allocate resources effectively.
- Monitor and report on HSEQ and performance KPI and targets.
- Organize internal and external audits, ensure that corrective actions are taken and effectively closed out with verified actions and supporting documentation.
- Champion management of change processes, ensuring company activities are risk-assessed when appropriate and that risk-reducing measures are implemented.
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ reporting system, including investigation, follow-up, and verification of corrective and preventive measures.
- Ensure that requirements for onboard safety- and emergency familiarization are developed and implemented across fleet.
- Accountable for Root Cause Investigations of operational and HSEQ incidents as required by the Safety Management System.
- Aid with experience transfer of accidents/incidents, to prevent recurrence.
- Review incident reports and trends, identify improvement opportunities and actions to mitigate risk through campaigns and engagement with operating teams and fleet.
- Identify and implement training requirements, as driven by legislation or learning from incidents or risk reviews connected with management of change.
- Ensure that the company is updated on applicable new legislation.
- Communicate with Charterers in HSEQ matters and support all departments as relevant with reports, data and statistics.
- Ensure that Commercial department is supported as relevant with information required for tenders and statistical data for business marketing purposes.
- Accountable for arranging quarterly management reviews.
- Participate in emergency response team and incident handling, lead as required and guide team members as appropriate.
- Represent Edda Wind in relevant industry forums and conferences as agreed.
Role:

Qualifications
- Maritime or technical college degree at Bachelor level or higher
- Experience as deck or engine officer, with several years of service
- Experience with quality- and safety management systems
- Extensive experience in onshore technical and operational roles, with deep knowledge of offshore vessels, systems and practices
- Experience with charterer, vetting and oil major requirements is advantageous
- A demonstrated passion for promoting and fostering a strong safety culture both onshore and onboard
- Experience and understanding of international maritime regulations and how they apply to relevant vessel operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, influence across departments and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong written and spoken English skills
- Basic knowledge of relevant software in use in the office
