Senior Software Engineer – Cloud & Data Platform – shaping the future of sustainable aquaculture

At Biosort, we apply computer vision, deep learning, and biometrics to protect salmon from sea lice and give fish individual health records. By improving fish welfare and powering insight, we enable sustainable aquaculture, lower production costs for farmers, and contribute to a global food supply with a smaller footprint. What you’ll do

• Build and scale data pipelines for real-time sensor and image data from underwater systems.

• Design and manage Kubernetes clusters to ensure system reliability and scalability.

• Implement storage and access layers for structured and unstructured data.

• Provide APIs and interfaces that enable insight-driven decisions.

• Ensure data integrity, security, and observability across all stages.

• Collaborate closely with ML engineers, software developers, and cloud specialists.

What we’re looking for

Qualifications

• Strong coding skills (Python, Rust, C++, Typescript, or similar).

• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes in production.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code.

• Experience developing REST APIs.

• Database experience (SQL & NoSQL).

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Knowledge of message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or cloud equivalents).

• Autonomy, proactiveness, and good communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ETL pipelines, big data, or streaming frameworks.

• Hands-on experience with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).

• Knowledge of real-time data processing or edge computing.

• Familiarity with security best practices for cloud and data pipelines.

• Some frontend experience (React, Typescript, or similar).
