The ASUS ROG Maximus XI Gene is a Micro-ATX motherboard designed for Intel 9th and 8th generation Core processors, Pentium Gold, and Celeron processors using the LGA 1151 socket.
It features the Intel Z390 chipset and supports DDR4 memory with speeds up to 4800 MHz (OC).
The motherboard supports a maximum of 64 GB of RAM across two DIMM slots, utilizing a unique memory-trace design that allows for 32 GB per slot.
It provides comprehensive connectivity with four M.2 SSD slots, including two via a ROG DIMM.2 module that connects to the DDR4 interface, and two directly on the board.
The board includes one HDMI port, USB 3.1 Gen 2 (1 Type-C and 3 Type-A), and eight USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports.
It features Intel Wireless-AC 9560 2x2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.
For performance, the Maximus XI Gene supports manual overclocking and includes AI Overclocking and 5-Way Optimization for automated tuning.
It comes with a dedicated overclocking toolkit featuring a Pause switch, Safe Boot and ReTry buttons, an LN2 mode jumper, and a Slow mode switch to aid in extreme overclocking scenarios.
The board also includes a comprehensive cooling zone with multiple headers for fans, water pumps, and monitoring of water flow and temperature.
The motherboard supports up to 32 GB of memory per DIMM, enabling a total of 64 GB, and features a unique memory-trace design and grounding enhancements to maximize overclocking headroom.
It includes a pre-mounted I/O shield for streamlined installation and supports RGB lighting via the AURA ecosystem.
The board has been recognized for its overclocking capabilities, having smashed 10 world records and secured 11 global first-place positions in the 8-core CPU category.
