Fugro Norway Satellite Positioning is looking for a Network Engineer
The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s network infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of performance, security, and availability. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, hands-on experience with network hardware and software, and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both the theoretical and practical aspects of networking, with an emphasis on problem-solving and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design and Implementation:
Design and implement scalable and secure network solutions that meet business requirements.
Plan and deploy new network hardware and software upgrades.
Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network devices.
Network Management and Maintenance:
Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Perform regular network performance tuning and capacity planning.
Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly.
Conduct regular network maintenance, including patch management and firmware updates.
Security and Compliance:
Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed network diagrams and documentation.
Create and implement network procedures and configurations.
Generate reports on network performance, issues, and improvements.
Team Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with other team members to support overall network infrastructure.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior network engineers.
Collaborate with vendors and service providers for network-related services and support.
Qualifications:
Education:
BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Relevant certifications (CCNP, JNCIP) are highly desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on designing, implementing, and managing complex network environments.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF).
Proficiency in IPv4 and IPv6 addressing.
Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 multicast configuration.
Extensive experience with Cisco and Juniper network hardware and software.
Strong understanding of firewall technologies, VPNs, and network security practices.
Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
Extensive experience with Linux systems and shell scripting.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications:
Advanced networking certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience with cloud networking (AWS).
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
