Now, we’re looking for a Senior Backend Developer — someone who’s eager to take ownership, lead major projects, and help shape the inner workings a platform that drives real-world impact.

You’re an experienced backend developer who thrives in a fast-paced and varied workday. You take a pragmatic approach to development, balancing ideal solutions with real-world constraints. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities in a startup environment. You’re motivated by ownership and autonomy —and curious about the intersection of technology and sustainability.

At Telescope, your key responsibilities will be to

• Lead development across our backend stack using Python, Django, and geospatial data

• Take part in system architecture and infrastructure decisions as we scale

• Drive major projects end-to-end, including new integrations and internal model redesigns

• Collaborate closely with design, product, and data to build seamless, performant APIs

• Help define and evolve technical conventions and best practices

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, testing, and DevOps-related processes

• GitHub Actions for CI/CD

• Simple, down-to-earth architecture leaning on usage of Docker and VMs. Deployed on hosted cloud provider (AWS/GCP/Azure equivalent)
