ABB Marine and Ports Norway is expanding its team with new positions for Service and Commissioning worldwide.
We are now hiring Service and Commissioning Engineers for Marine and Ports.
We believe you have experience or motivation to learn within one or multiple of the following systems:
- Medium voltage/Low voltage Frequency Converters
- High Voltage Switchboards
- Onboard DC grid systems
- Automation Systems
- Power & Energy Management Systems
The Service and Commissioning Engineer travels worldwide to shipyards to perform commissioning of ABB delivered electrical equipment onboard newbuilt vessels. This is done in close cooperation with the customers and our engineering department. Another part of the job is to perform service of existing systems onboard vessels in operation. The candidate must be motivated for significant travelling. Newly graduates are also encouraged to apply.

This position reports to Field Service Manager and can be located either at ABB Fornebu or Ulsteinvik.
Your responsibilities
- Commissioning of ABB Marine delivered systems worldwide: functionality testing, system integration, customer approval testing
- Service of ABB Marine delivered systems worldwide: maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, upgrades, modernization
Your background
- Experience within electrical power or automation systems onboard ships will be an advantage but not an absolute requirement
- If you have experience as a ship or rig electrician, or experience from shipyards, understanding and interest in marine installations that would be an advantage
- Fluent in both written and verbal English
- Bachelor, College, University, Technical College
- The ability to understand and find practical solutions to problems
- Initiative and cooperative, ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to perform tasks under pressure
- Good understanding of marine systems
