Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and delegating the workload of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) personnel in Oceaneering’s services and manufacturing business while supporting the Quality organization in developing and understanding proper use of adequate prevention and control processes and tools, such as risk assessments, root cause analysis, non-conformance, corrective action, and cost of poor quality (COPQ), implementing and interpreting Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs), and maintaining and supporting the Quality Management System (QMS).

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead/Managerial Responsibilities

  • Drive the Quality Culture within the organization with a proactive approach, using Risk Management, Quality Tenets, Lesson Learned, etc. to engage with the Business, Clients, and Vendors to ensure Quality is built into our processes, products and services
  • Role includes acting as Quality Manager for designated home site as well as being responsible for all Oceaneering sites within the Region
  • Manage and delegate the workload of QA/QC personnel in services and manufacturing business units; coordinate scheduling activities to ensure proper QA/QC coverage for all manufacturing and purchasing activities
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure implementation of conformance to inspection and testing plans (ITPs), Incoming Quality Control plans (IQCPs) in SmartSolve, quality plans, and interpret inspection results
  • Define, identity, record, track and inform quality engineers and managers of non-conformances (i.e. when material / product is not in compliance with specifications or drawings) and COPQ (cost of poor quality)
  • Identify competency needs for quality personnel positions; coach, mentor and establish development plans in order to ensure effective performance and achievement of business objectives
  • Maintain and trend Quality KPIs; link metrics to strategic operational objectives
  • Manage the interface with customers and/or customer 3rd parties for any Quality activities
  • Support Quality organization in developing and understanding a proper use of adequate risk assessment, root cause analysis, non-conformance, corrective action, and COPQ collection, as well as continuous improvement projects
  • Represent Quality function during internal/external meetings, including milestone reviews, project kick-off meetings, design reviews, etc.
  • Assess and ensure appropriate application of six sigma process improvements, design, service and manufacturing controls [i.e. Process Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), identification/analysis of characteristics Critical to Process (CTP) and Critical to Quality (CTQ),  process capability studies (Cpk), process control plans, gage repeatability and reproducibility (R&R), Statistical Process Control (SPC)]

     

    Quality Assurance/Quality Control Responsibilities

  • Maintain & support the Quality Management System (QMS) by reviewing, verifying, approving, and developing or facilitating the development of regional and/or local procedures, as necessary
  • Support internal and external audits for site certifications; verify and distribute work to business units as necessary
  • Develop and lead quality management reviews
  • Ensure the independent asset, product, and component inspection function is in accordance with industry standards, regulatory statutes, and customer requirements

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has supervisory responsibilities for all Quality Managers within designated Region

     

    Reporting Relationship

  • Sr Manager, Global Quality



Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant supervisory experience
  • 5-10 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Clear understanding of what a robust QMS is and how to drive implementation into business process
  • Understanding of and experience using data analysis tools (e.g., root cause analysis, Pareto charts, etc)
  • 10 years’ relevant auditing experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant root cause analysis experience

     

    DESIRED

  • Previous work experience in oil & gas, automotive, or medical device field preferred           
  • HNC/Diploma, preferably in QA or related field
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO17020 & ISO17025; where applicable
  • Green belt certified with proven experience

      

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of measurement techniques, inspection methods, and equipment
  • Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Geometric dimensioning and tolerance training (GD&T), Nondestructive examination methods, inspection and planning techniques
  • Executes change and clearly communicates organizational value
  • Ability to analyze situations utilizing a variety of analytical techniques in order to make well informed decisions
  • Shares information, advice, and suggestions to help others to be more successful; provides effective coaching
  • Ability to recognize and determine the need to shift priorities, and/or resources to maximize unit operations and/or address changes in assigned goals and objectives
  • Knows when to escalate critical issues to own or others' management if own efforts to enlist support have not succeeded
  • Ability to communicate at local, regional & global levels, ensuring that our Global Quality Team continues to develop and strengthen as a group, as well as further improves the Business relationships with our internal customers
  • Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals

     

    Working Conditions

    This role is designated as hybrid, working from home and the office.

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
