Job Summary

We currently have a very exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer to join Schlumberger’s Process Systems engineering team, preferably based on our offices in Trondheim. Full time position with flexible working arrangements.

Schlumberger’s Process Systems group designs, engineers and fabricates specialist oil, gas, water and solids processing equipment packages and facilities. These packages vary in size and complexity from single train vessels to multi deck 3000t modules for both onshore and offshore facilities.  For further information see https://www.slb.com/well-production/processing-and-separation.

We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer with Produced Water (PWT) processing experience, with a high level of competence and awareness of produced water and solids management systems, to work within the Liquids Process Technology teams. Schlumberger’s PWT technology and patents are world leading and as Senior Process Engineer you will act as lead on medium, large and complex/critical tenders/projects taking full ownership of all process engineering activities. You will be responsible for leading, undertaking and delegating/managing process engineering activities and deliverables within the team. You will work closely with the Process Technology Teams, Project Engineering Manager, Sales, other engineering disciplines and other project support functions to execute the project in accordance with the specified requirement and Client expectations. 

We prefer candidates located in Trondheim, but we are open for good candidates in Porsgrunn or Oslo as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate customer inquiries and specifications in support of the proposal team to determine the best process or equipment design for the application.  Includes determining the required scope of work to be provided and developing the best strategy to win the technical proposal.
  • Design equipment to match specifications or clearly define differences (clarifications or exceptions list) to customers.
  • Develop “deliverables” for cost estimating, design engineering, and drafting (e.g P&ID, PFD/UFD, Process Data Sheet, vessel sizing, etc).
  • Creation of all process feed/project deliverables in accordance with the SLB and Client requirements. 
  • Perform process equipment sizing and simulations of specific PWT equipment, such as hydrocyclones, CFUs, desander cyclones, degassers, separators, filters, etc, utilising Schlumberger defined software and design tools.
  • Create / review / comment on complex PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Perform line sizing calculations.
  • Process input with selection and location of level, pressure and flow control equipment.
  • Calculate control valve types and define PSV sizing basis.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of all Schlumberger products and their technical design features and application.
  • Generate Control Narrative and Control Philosophy in conjunction with instrumentation discipline.
  • Attend client clarification and kick off meetings as required.
  • Supporting Sales, providing technical presentations and being the focal point for technical discussions.
  • Develop cause and effect charts and participate in client HAZOP or lead internal HAZOP.
  • Produce Installation, Operating (Start-up and Shut-down) & Maintenance Instruction manuals, including lists for Consumables, Special Tools, Lubricants, and Utilities.
  • Produce training materials and run training sessions.
  • Develop equipment data sheets with process data.
  • Perform Peer Reviews of team design work including proposals, deliverables, and fabrication drawings.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting.
  • Perform offshore on-site start-up and/or troubleshooting.
  • Approve and follow engineering project schedule, coordinate design work with the global resource as applicable, input to man-hour estimates and utilize MOC process.
  • Contribute to the development of Schlumberger procedures.
  • Knowledge share in the development of other/junior SLB process engineers.
  • Participate in the R&D and sustaining of the product and technologies.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Produced Water Treatment process design and operation experience.
  • In addition, experience with oil/gas/solids separation, sand/solids treatment, and/or Seawater treatment will be considered highly beneficial. 
  • Highly competent in process equipment (hydrocyclones, CFUs, desander cyclones, etc) design and sizing.
  • Experience with overall process systems designs for oil & gas topsides would be considered highly beneficial.
  • In-depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for oil field process equipment design, field installation and start-up procedures.
  • Detailed understanding of NORSOK and Equinor TRs.
  • Hands-on experience with (offshore) field start-up/trials and troubleshooting experience of systems produced.
  • Experience/skill with multidiscipline project engineering functions.
  • Experience from process equipment suppliers to Norwegian and international oil & gas projects/capacity.
  • Professional user of Microsoft excel/office package (ProArc preferred)

 

Minimum job qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor degree (BEng or BSc) in Process, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering, with experience in the design and selection of process equipment for the Oil and Gas Industry;
  • Or Master (MEng or MSc) Degree in Process, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering with experience in the selection of process equipment for the Oil and Gas Industry; or equivalent experience.
  • Alternatively, minimum 15-20 years of relevant experience with PWT process design can be considered as complementary for missing formal education.

  • Technical network in Norwegian and international oil & gas industry.
