Scientist with specialisation in rheology and surface chemistry to Borregaards Biopolymer group

Borregaard’s R&D center in Sarpsborg has 70 employees with both broad and in-depth chemistry experience and competence. We are looking for an R&D scientist with knowledge within the fields of physical chemistry, rheology and surface chemistry.

The position requires a degree, preferable PhD or a master’s degree with specialisation within the relevant science areas. Duties and responsibilities include innovation projects and process optimalisation primarily linked to products based on lignin biopolymers.

If you would like to take part in industrialising and commercialising new products and production processes, as well as increasing the value of existing products and processes, this may be the position for you.

Work responsibilities:

• Development of new lignin processes and products, both in laboratory and production scale
• Develop an understanding of applications of new products (rheology and surface chemistry), both in the laboratory and with the customer
• Develop and establish new testing and analyses methods
• Innovate within new product and application development and process improvement
• Contribute to innovation across the business areas in Borregaard

Qualifications:

• The position requires a degree, preferable PhD with specialisation in surface chemistry and rheology or
• Master’s degree with specialisation in surface chemistry and rheology, preferably with experience within the relevant fields.

Work environment:

The R&D center is organised into six different group corresponding to Borregaard’s application areas. The R&D scientists collaborate across these groups and work closely with colleagues in other functions such as commercial, production, quality etc.  The working environment is dynamic and objective driven.  The work language in our R&D center is Norwegian, but English is used daily. All reporting is conducted in English. Collaboration with Borregaard’s international sales/production organisation, and customer meetings is expected.
