Gard is looking for a Senior Claims Adviser to strenghten our offshore energy team in Oslo

Offshore Energy Claims is seeking a Senior Claims Adviser to work in our Oslo office.

Key responsibilities
The Senior Claims Adviser role is a professional and global role focusing on offshore energy matters within the wider Gard claims organization. The role includes responsibility for a number of large and/or complex claims, reporting to the Claims Area Leader. You will also be advising and guiding other claims handlers on strategic claims handling issues, including claims handlers responsible for MOU P&I claims, as well as supporting offshore underwriters and Loss Prevention colleagues on offshore energy risk assessments and issues. Other responsibilities include contributing to the professional development and mentoring of claims handlers, representing Gard in Member, client, and broker meetings and various industry fora. The role will also involve some travel at short notice when required and again permitted.

Competence/experience requirements
A strong technical or operational background combined with legal, regulatory or offshore insurance skills will be preferred. Work experience from offshore operations within the petroleum or renewable energy sectors is beneficial.

The offshore energy claims team handles claims for property loss or damage, business interruption, loss of well control and third party liabilities for owners, operators and contractors in the offshore oil and gas and renewable energy segments. Such claims are often large and complex with technical, regulatory and contractual challenges, and involve numerous professional parties and stakeholders, often at senior levels. A successful applicant will therefore have a deep understanding of offshore energy assets and operations or contractual and regulatory regimes within the offshore energy sector. The sector is in the initial phase of a significant transition and applicants must have strong personal interest and ability to keep pace with this development.

The role requires strong written and oral communication, presentation and negotiation skills, and the ability to work successfully as part of a lean and highly specialized team.
