Senior Process Engineer

As part of Hydro's new strategic direction to diversify and explore new green growth, Hydro's Energy business area has established a new a “Batteries” business unit to grow and develop our current assets while also exploring new business opportunities within the battery value chain. Hydro has already entered promising partnerships with the Norwegian-Canadian battery company Corvus Energy and the Swedish battery company Northvolt, and we see further potential where we can leverage our capabilities in the battery value chain. 

The Technology team in Batteries is responsible for maturing and developing business opportunities in the battery value chain in collaboration with the business development unit. 

To cover this area comprehensively, we are hiring key positions where Senior Process Engineer is one of them. 

We are looking for a person with broad operational experience within process discipline and technology development from relevant process industry.

Area of Responsibility

In your role as Senior Process Engineer you are responsible for process and technology development and evaluation for internal and external projects within the Battery business unit. Main tasks will be:

•  Evaluate/discuss with suppliers and develop technical specifications of plants in the upstream part of the battery value chain 
• Support engineering, procurement, construction and start-up of production facilities
• Evaluate/discuss with suppliers and develop technical specifications of upstream plants
• Support engineering, procurement, construction and start-up of production facilities

Qualifications

•  Master’s degree or equivalent in technology, science
• Broad experience from process industry; refining, chemical industry, metals industry, hydro metallurgy
• Experience from industry battery value chain is an advantage
• Experience from project management is an advantage
• International mindset, mobility, flexibility and eagerness to work with both domestic and international (Europe) projects 
• Fluent English, both oral and written, is required. Knowledge of Norwegian is an advantage
