As part of Hydro's new strategic direction to diversify and explore new green growth, Hydro's Energy business area has established a new “Batteries” business unit to grow and develop our current assets while also exploring new business opportunities within the battery value chain. Hydro has already entered promising partnerships with the Norwegian-Canadian battery company Corvus Energy and the Swedish battery company Northvolt, and we see further potential where we can leverage our capabilities in the battery value chain. 

The Technology team in Batteries is responsible for evaluating, maturing and developing business opportunities in the battery value chain in collaboration with the business development unit. 

To cover this area comprehensively, we are hiring key positions where Battery Electrochemical Specialist is one of them.

We are looking for a person with significant electrochemistry expertise and preferably experience from the battery value chain.

Area of Responsibility

As Battery Electrochemical Specialist you will contribute to link theoretical competence to production and business development. Main areas of responsibility are:

• Monitor the leading-edge R&D in battery chemistry
• Evaluate the technology of potential partners
• Initiate and manage own R&D activities
• Build networks and relevant ecosystems

Qualifications

• PhD Electrochemistry
• Broad experience from battery value chain
• An established academic network for Battery value chain
• Experience from project management is an advantage
• International mindset, mobility, flexibility and eagerness to work with both domestic and international (Europe) projects 
• Fluent English, both oral and written, is required.
