The Contracts and Procurement department is responsible for a large share of the activities related to our field development projects, of which has a major impact to our overall project success.

We are responsible for all contracts and supplies when executing development projects offshore Ghana. Personnel in the department will be working with internal stakeholders, international suppliers and across our offices in Oslo and Accra.

You will be part of a team that is responsible and can impact the overall cost, execution and risks of our projects. There will be many challenges and opportunities to think along new lines, find solutions and make things work. We are a united team that must cooperate across disciplines and cultures, while continuously developing our skills and competencies.

Responsibilities and tasks:

The Contract Advisor shall ensure a well-defined strategy for all contracts are in place, that appropriate systems are utilised, and the governing structure (auth. matrix for procurement matters) and procurement policy is implemented and adhered to in the contracts process.

To support the Senior Contracts Manager in successful delivery of their mandates, the Contracts Advisor shall:

  • liaise with project stakeholders to secure early identification and planning of required goods and services
  • draft inquiry documents and contracts, incorporating applicable regulations, such as local content requirements
  • execute the procurement process as defined and in accordance with governing regulations while leading tender negotiations until contract award
  • ensure contract obligations are fulfilled; including progress and supply chain monitoring, timely processing of queries/deviations, variation orders, pro-active risk management, filing of documentation, etc.


The main responsibilities will include the following:

  • Establish contracts, handle contractual, commercial and insurance issues related to suppliers
  • Execute the procurement process in compliance with Aker Energy procurement policy, governance process in the project, local regulations and industry best practice
  • Develop contract strategies for the scope of work, incorporating market/capacity considerations, local regulations/local content requirements and tax-regulations
  • Negotiate contracts and finalise recommendations for approval
  • Monitor and control contracts during execution, including deliverables/payments, budget, variations and claim handling, reporting, warranties, etc.
  • Pro-active management of contract risk and opportunities
  • Ensure proactive handling of Corporate Social Responsibility, Business Ethics and Health, Safety and Environment in contract planning and execution
  • Ensure that input is given and kept up to date in the Procurement Milestone Plan (PMP)
  • Monitor and control compliance with contract during execution, including deliverables/payments, variations and claim handling, reporting, warranties
  • Contribute to the management of contract risk and opportunities
  • Contribute to the establishment of systems to allow effective contract management, including purchasing in the project
  • Reporting of status (schedule, budget, etc.)
  • Implement and follow-up the governance process in the project/authority matrix
  • Contribute to a positive working environment with good cooperation and communication within the project and its stakeholders


Qualifications & personal attributes:

  • Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in Engineering/Law/Business/Other fields of studies
  • Minimum 3- 5 years’ experience with contracts/procurement
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Detail oriented, organized and a proactive attitude
  • Must be able to multi-task and be able to work independently with minimal supervision and broad direction
  • Handle and prioritize multiple tasks and projects while maintaining a high-level of accuracy in a fast-paced high-pressure, high-output, deadline-oriented environment
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Mobile with the flexibility to travel occasionally
