Well Control Instructor til RelyOn Nutec

Aberdeen Drilling School, part of the RelyOn Nutec Group is the leading well control training school in the UK, with further operations throughout Europe, North and South America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.  We are currently expanding our teaching capability in Norway and seeking to recruit experienced and engaging individuals as a full-time or part-time Well Control Instructors to be based in our Bergen or Stavanger facilities. 

The instructor should be capable of teaching Drilling Well Control and related disciplines.

Applicants should have experience at driller level or above, or within an engineering role in offshore drilling operations. A current IWCF Level 4 Well Control certificate would be an advantage, however we would support the right candidate to attain the relevant certificates to become an instructor.

Position Summary:

The Well Control Instructors will deliver the accredited range of Well Control courses (IWCF and IADC) on a weekly basis in Norway, but could also be involved in the preparation and delivery of bespoke training courses to the drilling and well services industry at various global locations. This role is for a position based full time in our Bergen or Stavanger training centres, with opportunities for worldwide travel. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Operational responsibilities:

·      Deliver high-quality teaching and coaching using Aberdeen Drilling School’s training material to the standards required of the company and the accreditation bodies IWCF and IADC

·      Undertake coaching and competency assessment of drilling, completions workover and well intervention crews both in the classroom and potentially at the rig-site

Quality assurance responsibilities:

·      Support development and continuous improvement of Aberdeen Drilling School’s Well Control courses and associated course material

·      Support the technical translation of Aberdeen Drilling School material for the Norwegian market

·      Monitor the outcomes from each course delivered and make the necessary improvements in teaching method and course materials as required

·      Ensure that the courses are composed and delivered to the required syllabus set by the accrediting bodies

Business development responsibilities:

·      Engagement with the customer service improvement initiatives to ensure that the client experience is to the required company standard

To be an accredited Instructor for IWCF requires that the candidate hold a Supervisory Level Well Control certificate and have at least two years of relevant operational experience with the ability to relay detailed information on Drilling and Well Intervention Operations.

Candidates who can demonstrate high levels of knowledge and extensive field experience will be considered and trained appropriately in order to become an accredited instructor.

The company also undertakes competency assessment, performance improvement, well engineering and well integrity courses.  Experience in these fields would be an advantage.

Experience & Qualifications:

·      A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a drilling, completions or well intervention supervisory position is essential, preferably as a manager or superintendent or equivalent.  Wireline and coiled tubing operators will be considered based on their experience.

·      Candidates must be technically competent and show a high level of field knowledge and experience.

·      Candidates should hold or have held an IWCF or IADC Well Control certificate at Supervisory Level, preferably with previous assessment scores above 90% in all modules.

·      Teaching or coaching experience would be beneficial.

·      Technical qualifications such as an engineering degree would also be beneficial.

·      Candidates must be fluent in Norwegian and English language.
