We are currently looking for experienced Mechanical Engineers to join our business in Sandnes and Bergen, reporting directly to the Discipline Lead Engineer.

The Mechanical Engineer is designated to deliver work as delegated by responsible lead. (POM, PM, PE or Discipline Lead Engineer).

Key responsibilities (not limited to)

  • To ensure that the applicable legislation and standards are applied across all aspects of structural delivery to the Project. These include: NORSOK, British Standards, API, Company procedures, checklists, and processes, Client codes and standards, HS&E Regulations (including LOLER) and EU Directives.
  • To identify and implement safe, cost effective, fit for purpose, field proven designs.
  • To maximise opportunities within design, to improve rig operability and maintainability.
  • To provide engineering solutions that demonstrate added value to both Archer Operations and Client.
  • To provide technical interface with all other Discipline Engineers and Subcontractor and Specialist Engineering Vendors.
  • To report progress against project plans to the Project Engineer/Manager/ Discipline Lead Engineer, noting any areas of concern and identifying corrective actions.
  • To meet the requirements of the agreed schedule identified within the project plan for the structural deliverables as assigned by the Project Engineer/ Disciplin Lead.
  • To ensure that the cross discipline Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Maintenance and Operational requirements are accounted for within the design. 
  • Responsible for checking and/ or approval of discipline design deliverables, specifications, drawings, packages and technical procedures.
  • Verification of Vendor documentation.
  • Preparation of work descriptions and work package documentation required for offshore installation, mechanical completion and commissioning activities.
  • Develop and evaluate procedures
  • Perform quality assurance and approval of own documentation and vendor documentation according to customer requirements
  • Prepare technical requisitions for subcontracting and follow up of suppliers
  • Attend project meetings both internally and with customer/supplier
  • Participate in/organize FAT (internally and externally)
  • Support personnel in the field during start-up/Troubleshooting
  • Responsible for keeping drawings and documentation updated according to customer requirements
  • Assist with pre-qualification of suppliers
  • To conduct offshore surveys and prepare offshore survey reports, as required.
  • To respect colleagues, clients and subcontractors at all levels, dealing with any dispute or conflict in a professional and personable manner.
  • Reporting work load to the Discipline Lead to ensure maximal utilization.

Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree or Technical College
  • Knowledge of current regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of offshore industries will be an advantage, preferably experience from project work with new construction or modifications
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Generally good IT skills and good experience with MS Office package
  • Valid health certificate
  • Preferable valid offshore certificate
