Local Unit & Position Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Developer/Architect to join our team in Structure Ecosystem, DNV GL – Digital Solutions at Høvik. You have strong competence and extensive experience within software development, and have experience with software architecture for the cloud era.

Your primary responsibilities will be architecting and implementing our new cloud platform and associated cloud-based applications. You will be doing development together with a highly skilled and enthusiastic team of software engineers. You are familiar with modern software architecture & design, and appreciate the value of clean code and adhering to design principles like SOLID.

Structure Ecosystem consists of 70 people in Norway, US, Poland and China who maintain, develop, and support the Sesam suite of programs covering design and analysis of structures within the maritime, offshore, and renewable industries. You will be part of a very motivated team of 15 professional software engineers, software testers, product managers, technical support engineers, and UX experts, who pride themselves in delivering high quality software, and you will get the opportunity to solve hard and interesting problems.

DNV GL - Digital Solutions was established in 2018 and has set out on an exciting digitalization journey. We are in the process of transforming our structural analysis software, Sesam, into a set of analysis services running on a shared cloud platform. We are already delivering parts of Sesam through a scalable cloud service and offering a web solution for exploring analysis results in 3D.  Our strategy is to deliver a hybrid offering - cloud and desktop. In addition to maintaining our stronghold within hydrodynamic and structural simulations, we want to extend it by applying new technologies. Machine Learning, collaboration, and sensitivity analysis are all part of our roadmaps. Sesam has traditionally had a strong foothold within the Maritime and Oil & Gas industries. The later years, focus is on renewables and aquaculture.

Responsibilities

• Lead developer and platform architect for our cloud solutions
• Main architect for migrating our mainly desktop-based legacy applications to the cloud
• Contribute to DNV GL’s common building blocks, OneFoundation
• Mentoring developers through hackathons, participation in code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, as well in the day-to-day work

Position Qualifications

• MSc or higher within Software Engineering, Software Architecture or similar
• 10+ years working as a software developer and architect, with broad experience within both cloud and desktop oriented products and solutions
• First-hand experience with architecting for the cloud
• Experience with architecting secure web solutions.
• Knowledge and understanding of microservice architecture
• Experience within a wide range of technologies and languages, such as C#, ASP.NET, Python, JavaScript (we use Angular), C++, 3D technologies, containers
