The Schibsted Media Group is currently going through a demerger, where the classifieds/marketplace sites outside the Nordics will be part of a new, separately listed company and the classifieds/marketplace sites in the Nordics (FINN.no, Blocket.se, Tori.fi) will remain part of Schibsted. The EVP Nordic Marketplaces (Schibsted) is seeking an individual that can assist with overall management of the Nordic Marketplaces portfolio, including business development, strategy and project/program management.

The position is the first new role at the Nordic Marketplaces-level. The Nordic Marketplaces organization will be developed with a lean mindset, and consequently the role will evolve over time. Initial areas of responsibility are described further down in the listing.

In this role you will report to and work closely with the EVP Nordic Marketplaces. Some travel will be required, primarily within the Nordic countries.

The role is an excellent match if the following describes you:

  • You are familiar with marketplaces/classifieds. You can contribute meaningfully in a discussion about liquidity, and can explain the main drivers behind a successful marketplace.
  • You have the ability to get things done - regardless of reporting lines. You believe that a common purpose and shared goals are even more powerful forces than reporting lines, and can describe specific examples where you have led a team with different reporting lines to succeed together. You have successfully built cross-unit teams characterized by trust, a sense of “we” and high levels of motivation.
  • You eat complexity for breakfast. A matrix organization, at times unclear mandates, exceptions, etc. doesn’t scare you. Even though forces around you pull in the direction of increased complexity, you cut through the noise and ensure focus on speed and delivery. You have successfully managed expectations and relationships up, down and sideways, as well as internally and externally.
  • You are admired for your ability to operate effectively both high and low. You can lead and contribute strongly in high-level strategic discussions...and also pitch in when a project needs some extra help to cross the finish line on time. You exhibit a high degree of pragmatism, but introduce structure and process when it will boost overall performance. You know when to be humble, and when to be firm.
  • You have a growth mindset: You believe we can - and should - continue to grow and evolve as individuals, as a business and as an organization. You believe “good enough” is better than perfection, and know when to be principled vs. pragmatic. You question and challenge established truths...but have also demonstrated an ability to disagree-and-commit. You are curious to learn and draw inspiration from other companies around the world.
  • You (almost) never forget that the customer is most important. You believe that we ultimately measure success by how well we succeed in the market.

Responsibilities (will evolve over time):

  • With relevant stakeholders, develop overarching strategy for Nordic Marketplaces
  • In collaboration with Group and the individual marketplaces, develop a reporting/KPI structure for Nordic Marketplaces
  • Coordinate and prepare Business Reviews
  • Be a liaison between Nordic Marketplaces and other organizational units in Schibsted in select areas
  • Project manage select initiatives within the Nordic Marketplaces portfolio
  • In collaboration with Group, Next and the individual marketplaces, pursue relevant M&A opportunities
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing and collaboration within Nordic Marketplaces, both within the functions and verticals
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing and collaboration between Nordic Marketplaces and MPI

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience from classifieds/marketplaces
  • Experience with project/program management
  • Experience leading strategy projects
  • Experience with M&A processes
  • Experience from complex organizations
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Norwegian/Swedish - both written and spoken
  • 7+ years in relevant positions

Applications will be processed on an ongoing basis.
