Orkla is one of Norway’s oldest business conglomerates. The company’s history dates back over 350 years and reflects both good times and bad. Orkla started out as purely a mining company extracting the rich ore deposits at Løkken Verk in Sør-Trøndelag County in Norway.

Today, Orkla is a market-leading supplier of branded consumer goods and concept solutions to the grocery sector, specialist retailers, out-of-home sectors and the bakery market. The Nordic and Baltic regions are Orkla’s main markets and account for approximately 80% of the turnover of the Branded Consumer Goods business. The Orkla Group also holds good positions in selected product categories in Central Europe and India.

 

Even though Orkla has a strong position in today's market, the company has a never-ending thirst for innovation. Seeing D2C e-commerce as a key channel for the future, Orkla is now expanding their Groups Sales division with an Operations Director of e-commerce. The operations director will be leading development and growth of Orkla Group’s D2C e-commerce platform focusing on key challenges and opportunities in an explorative field.

As an Operations Director of e-commerce, you'll have a unique opportunity to be a pioneer within e-commerce at Orkla and set the standard for digitalization within one of Norway's largest companies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • You will be part of the D2C e-commerce management group
  • Responsible for development and growth of the company’s D2C-platform and portfolio
  • Understand the user journey and ensure we optimize the platform accordingly
  • Evaluate the potential of growth within D2C/e-commerce together with the brands
  • Lead projects related to onboarding for new brands and online stores
  • Responsible for meeting budgets in Orkla Trading AS and Orkla Trading AB
  • Secure stable operations of the platform (tech and supply chain)
  • Define clear expectations internally and externally
  • Communicate across all stakeholders to ensure we are building a culture for e-commerce and growth
  • Understand how we can understand user data to create a better omnichannel experience.
  • Balance strategic planning, tactical priorities and operational tasks.

 

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Higher education (BSc or MSc) within a relevant field
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Digital product development experience
  • Enjoys working fact-based as well as taking creative decisions

 

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Around two years of relevant experience from e-commerce
  • Deep understanding of digital e-commerce platforms and effective UX/UI
  • Proven track record of taking full ownership and delivering results
  • Experience working with Salesforce Commerce Cloud is a clear advantage
  • Experience from a product manager role or equivalent
