The Primary Metal (PM) business area in Hydro has a total annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons of primary aluminium, and around 5 000 employees in 16 countries. We produce primary aluminium, recycle, and supply our customers with casthouse products.

Strategic Sourcing is responsible for global sourcing of raw materials, indirect material, and services to PM plants. We are now looking for a Carbon Business Coordinator to join the department.

This is a newly established and hands-on job, where you will frequently interact with internal and external contacts. If you’re looking to build a commercial career in Hydro and are keen to learn our business, this is a great starting point!

Area of Responsibility

You will support the two units constituting the carbon business, which is at the heart of the electrolysis process. They cover the sourcing of coke and pitch to our carbon plants as well as anode supplies to our global fully owned smelters. In addition, they give commercial and technical support to our global joint ventures.

Some key tasks will be to:

• Follow up delivery schedules and actual deliveries of carbon products
• Have daily contact with planners at carbon production sites, planners at smelters, and logistical operations
• Monitor, contribute to and document regional and global market analyses of carbon materials and other relevant markets
• Assist in commercial discussions with suppliers
• Take part in yearly planning, budgeting, and reporting processes
• Contribute to projects in Strategic Sourcing
• Support maintenance and further development of the supplier management system

Qualifications

Key characteristics to succeed in this position are a proactive and structured approach, combined with a true commercial interest and drive. As your colleagues travel frequently, you should be able to work independently. Because of the many people you engage with, you should be perceived by others as collaborative and reliable.

Some formal requirements:

• University degree
• Experience from relevant business or operations is preferable, but graduates are welcome to apply
• Good command of Microsoft Office and suitable IT tools
• Fluent in English and Norwegian, verbal and written
