Category Manager, General Consumables

The Primary Metal (PM) in Hydro business area has a total annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons of primary aluminium, and around 5 000 employees in 16 countries. We produce primary aluminium, recycle, and supply our customers with casthouse products.

Procurement, part of Strategic Sourcing within Primary Metal, is responsible for sourcing goods and services for aluminum smelters.

We are now hiring a Category Manager for general consumables and spare parts for our aluminium smelters and carbon plants.

This is a hands-on job, close to the production and part of the Procurement management team, with excellent opportunities to influence and contribute to improvement in an exciting time of technological development.

Area of Responsibility

• Overall responsible for the category strategy and commercial activities
• Run tender processes, establish, and manage contracts
• Head and drive performance activities within the product category team
• Actively contribute to developing and implementing web-based catalogues, P2P solutions, and efficient procurement solutions
• Cooperate and communicate with customers, local procurement units and suppliers
• Monitor market development and procurement trends
• Contribute to optimizing spare part inventories and solutions for system support
• Source products and related services in accordance with company policies, including CSR and HSE

Qualifications

• University degree, preferably in engineering/business administration. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience within supply-chain, project management, procurement, production
• Experience from project management and commercial achievements
• Proven ability to identify potentials and deliver on improvement initiatives
• Understanding of the value chain, combined with interest for operations
• Excellent command of SAP and interest in process and system development
• Fluent in English and Norwegian, verbal and written

Additional Information

Business travels are expected, mainly in Norway, estimated at 35-50 days per year.

The position can be located at Høyanger, Karmøy, Oslo, Sunndal, or Årdal
