Graduate 2019 - Maintenance Engineer Årdal

The Årdal Metal Plant consists of two production sites, one in Øvre Årdal and one in Årdalstangen. We produce anodes in Årdalstangen, and we have a primary production plant and casthouses in Øvre Årdal. We have a total workforce of 546 employees. Our products are used in a vast number of applications around the world, such as automotive wheels, engines and suspension parts, structural components, building and construction.

The position as a Graduate reports to the AMBS/QA manager during the first 2 year of the Graduate training program, and afterwards to the Technical Manager. The Graduate will be responsible for development projects and other relevant tasks.

Area of Responsibility

• Get to know our Aluminium Metal Business System (AMBS) from theory to practice
• Analyze measurements from process technical parameters and/or equipment related parameters
• Be a part of the local AMBS work and participate in the Norwegian AMBS network
• Support implementation of established procedures within maintenance
• Follow-up and analyze maintenance at the plant
• Lead and participate in improvement processes related to maintenance

The position is essential for developing new leaders and professionals, and gives considerable knowledge about the aluminium business. For the right candidate the position might give interesting possibilities both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree within Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Maximum 2 years of work experience after graduation
• Good academic results
• Good analytical skills
• Fluency in English and Norwegian
• You work well in teams and share knowledge with others, but also have the ability to work independently
• Understanding of principles and tools for continuous improvement
• Involvement in student activities is considered an advantage
