Senior Analyst External Strategies

Norges Bank Investment Management is seeking a dedicated and result oriented professional for the position as Senior Analyst in the External Strategies group. It is expected that the hired analyst will become portfolio manager in the group at a later stage.

External Strategies is part of the Allocation Strategies department which manages the funds overall exposure and positioning across countries, asset classes and segments, advises on the funds investment strategy and is responsible for assets managed by external managers.

External Strategies is responsible for selection, monitoring and allocation between external managers. External managers mainly comprise specialist mandates in markets requiring a high level of expertise and local knowledge, i.e. emerging markets, frontier markets and small capitalization companies in developed markets.

We are a small, dedicated and result oriented group, which manages the majority of the Funds Emerging and Frontier markets equity exposure, with a focus to generate highest possible return with an acceptable level of risk.The team travels extensively, meeting existing and potential new equity managers, as well as other local market participants, at their sites.

The position is located in Oslo and will report to Head of External Strategies located in Oslo. Extensive travel is required.

Responsibilities:

• Analyzing and evaluating existing portfolio managers position and risk
• Selecting external managers within emerging markets
• Developing tools for analyzing and monitoring existing and new portfolio managers
• Contributing to a hardworking, high-performing team with a focus on results

Main Qualifications: A successful applicant will have the following background / skills

• Masters degree in finance, or similar, with strong academic records
• 3-6 years experience as  an equity analyst or portfolio manager
• Excellent analytical skills with deep understanding of financial theory
• International experience, either through academic background or work experience, is preferred
• Result oriented self-starter with ambition to excel
• High level of integrity
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with strong  proficiency in written and spoken English
