Graduate Process Engineer - Electrolysis Husnes

The Primary Metal (PM) business area has a total annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons of primary aluminium and has around 5 000 employees in 16 countries. We produce primary aluminium, recycle, and supply our customers with casthouse products.

Husnes plant has been 100 % fully owned by Hydro since November 2014. The plant has a beautiful location by the mouth of Hardangerfjorden and is Norway’s fourth largest aluminium producer measured by production capacity. Approx. 250 employees have their daily work at the plant, and the production capasity is 185 000 tonn primary metal.

Area of Responsibility

Improve the productivity, quality and reduce the emission from the prebake process in close cooperation with the production teams, utilizing various improvements tools.

You main area of responsibility will involve process improvements. You will be working closely with the production teams in order to acieve an increase in the amperage, improve productivity and quality, and in addition reducing emissions.

You will run and follow up trials, implement new technologies, while cooperating with other smelters in the Hydro System and specialists in Primary Metal Technology (PMT).

You will also lead and be a driving force in the implementation and use of Aluminium Metal Business System (AMBS) in the unit.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree within Chemistry or Metallurgy 
• Maximum 2 years of work experience after graduation 
• Good academic results 
• Good communication and cooperation skills 
• Engagement through student activities is an advantage 
• ?Analytical mindset
