Primary Metal Commercial Technology supports and advice the Hydro business units on issues related both to casthouse production, casthouse products and customer support in addition to developing new casthouse technologies and products. We are organized in three main groups; laboratories with locations in Sunndalsøra, Karmøy and Holland, MI (USA); R&D projects with location in Sunndalsøra and Casthouse Support with employees located at our main production sites.

R&D projects department has about 20 researchers, working on process and technology development for casthouse operations, customer support and alloy/product development for various applications within the three product areas Extrusion Ingot, Foundry Alloys and Sheet Ingot.

In order to further strengthen the alloy and product development competence at our research center, we are looking for research scientists both in the product areas of Extrusion Ingot and Foundry Alloys. The positions will report to the team manager for the respective product area.

Area of Responsibility

Run R&D projects on alloy/product development
Support casthouses, customer technical support and sales organisations in Hydro
Handle customer interaction in cooperation with the market team
Involve in customer technical service
Cooperation with universities and external research organizations
Document and communicate results

Qualifications

PhD or Master of Science (MSc) degree or similar in materials science, chemistry, physics, or other relevant areas
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Structured, analytical mindset with an interest in new technical solutions
Fluency in English and willingness to learn Norwegian

Additional Information

The positions are located at Sunndalsøra, Norway. Some travelling is a natural part of the position.
