Jotun sees untapped potential for innovations in the Performance Coatings segment and will therefore strengthen the R&D organization to realize this potential.The Surface Engineer will work in the central R&D laboratory in Sandefjord, Norway, in a cross functional team of scientists, engineers and technicians focused on developing coating based solutions for surface protection and functionalization. Our new Surface Engineer will be central in the development of next generation solutions that help our customers to increase the efficiency and the green profile of their assets.

Tasks

Identify target surface properties (e.g. mechanical, structural, chemical) to chieve target surface effects, especially optimizing hydrodynamic effectiveness
Responsible for developing approaches, processes and eventually equipment for applying coatings with the targeted surface properties on laboratory and full scale
Characterize and test surface properties
Contribute to cross-functional R&D projects
Build network with external partners, especially in the area of application chnology
Build and transfer competence internally
Communicate to the public (research articles, conference contributions)
Contribute professionally, internally and externally, to ensure that the overall goals of the R&D department are achieved

Qualifications

MSc/PhD in the area of Surface science/engineering, Manufacturing technology, Fluid dynamics
Relevant experience can compensate for formal education
Innovative, engineering mindset
Language: English required, Norwegian nice to have
