Primary Metal Technology (PMT) is responsible for research and development related to primary production of aluminium. Hydro is world leader within aluminium production technology and has high ambitions for further development. Together with colleagues in the technology organization our graduates will take part in developing smelter technology and implement new technology at Hydro's smelters in Norway and abroad. At the technology center in Årdal, we have full-scale testing facilities as well as laboratories where we can bring ideas, theory and academic knowledge into technological solutions.

Primary metal production is a complex process and a broad span in competence is needed in order to reach our ambitious targets. The right candidate has background in Chemistry/Process Metallurgy - in combination with modelling, analytical and statistical competence.

Graduates in Primary Metal Technology will take part in:

  • Initiatition, planning and execution of technology development projects
  • Technology implementation and support to Hydro's operations worldwide
  • Manage gained knowledge through specific projects and programs

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree within relevant areas such as: Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Light Metal Production, Process technology, Process metallurgy, chemometrics.
  • Maximum 2 years of work experience after graduation
  • Analytical mindset with good academic results
  • Results oriented with strong problem solving skills and an ability to define and achieve targets
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English, preferably Norwegian - any additional language is an asset
