Graduate - Process Engineer Årdal

The Primary Metal business area has a total annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons of primary aluminium and has around 5,000 employees in 16 countries. We produce primary aluminium, recycle and supply our customers with extrusion ingot, sheet ingot, foundry alloys and wire rod. 

The Årdal Metal Plant consists of two production sites, one in Øvre Årdal and one in Årdalstangen. We produce Anodes in Årdalstangen and have a primary plant and a casthouse in Øvre Årdal. We have a total workforce of 546 employees. The products are used in a vast number of applications around the world, from door frames and advanced building facades, to cables used in the electrical power grid. The position is organized in the AMBS department, and reports to Unit Manager AMBS. Through the AMBS department, the candidate will be dedicated to a production unit, regarding development projects and other relevant tasks.

Area of Responsibility

• Get to know our Aluminium Metal Business System (AMBS) from theory to practice
• Analyze measurements from process technical parameters and/or equipment related parameters
• Communicate with stakeholders and lead ad hoc projects that increases production output
• Train operator teams in systematic problem solving utilizing AMBS tools
• Be a part of the local AMBS work and participate in the Norwegian AMBS network

The position is essential for developing new leaders and professionals, and gives considerable knowledge about the aluminium business. For the right candidate the position might give interesting possibilities both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with good academic results within areas such as Chemistry, Metallurgy/Material, Cybernetics, Mechanical Engineering, Light Metal Production, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Economics & Technology management
• Maximum 2 years of work experience after graduation
• Good communication and cooperation skills
• Engagement through student activities is an advantage
• Proactive and results oriented attitude with strong problem solving skills
• Proven ability to work with others as well as taking the lead in a team
• Fluency in English and preferably also a Scandinavian language
