Graduate - Production System Engineer, Årdal

The Primary Metal business area has a total annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons of primary aluminium and has around 5,000 employees in 16 countries. We produce primary aluminium, recycle and supply our customers with extrusion ingot, sheet ingot, foundry alloys and wire rod.

At Hydro Årdal, we produce approximately 205,000 tons of primary aluminium per year, casted into sheet ingots which are used to develop complex products for the rolling industry. We also produce anodes for Hydro’s fully owned smelters in Norway. At the Reference Center in Årdal, our researchers are in the forefront of the technological race in the aluminium industry. Our recently developed HAL4e cell technology is currently producing aluminium at a current density and power consumption rate which is world class. 

Area of Responsibility

• Get to know our Aluminium Metal Business System (AMBS) from theory to practice
• Analyze measurements from process technical parameters and/or equipment related parameters
• Communicate with stakeholders and lead ad hoc projects that increases production output
• Train operator teams in systematic problem solving utilizing AMBS tools
• Be a part of the local AMBS work and participate in the Norwegian AMBS network

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with good academic results within areas such as Chemistry, Metallurgy/Material, Cybernetics, Mechanical Engineering, Light Metal Production, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Economics & Technology management
• Maximum 2 years of work experience after graduation
• Proactive and results oriented attitude with strong problem solving skills
• Proven ability to work with others as well as taking lead in a team
• Fluency in English and preferably also a Scandinavian language
