ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

As the lead of Operations on site, you will be responsible for driving safety, quality, delivery and cost savings at this key Avery Dennison site which is a center of excellence concerning Heat Transfer Label Technology (HTL) globally.  In conjunction with the General Manager, the European Operations Team and the Site Management team you will set the strategy for Supply Chain in Norway.  You will lead the Production, Quality, Logistics, Purchasing, Planning and Maintenance teams to help meet our site Key Performance Indicators and ensure we are a World Class manufacturing site.  You will be the site lead on Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) and will be responsible for driving a continuous improvement culture.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Working as a key member of the Site Management Team and participating in the establishment of sites’ annual operating plans
  • Driving execution of site improvement plans, helping set operations improvement goals, ensuring priorities and accountabilities are clear, providing resources and removing obstacles to ensure success.
  • Developing and delivering plans in line with site and Regional Strategy.  Ensuring annual goals are complete and communicated.  Utilising A3 methodology and PDCA development as appropriate.
  • Designing and implementing operational improvement strategies for safety, cost, quality, training, inventory and services.
  • Analysing and drawing information for long-term strategic change and improvement for multiple teams/shifts. Focusing on improving more complex performance through lean manufacturing efforts.
  • Leading significant projects and improvement initiatives, scheduling and planning, budgeting and control.
  • Building, motivating and coaching a team capable of continuously improving the departments results while, constantly reinforcing the companies lean manufacturing philosophy.
  • Acting as a team role model and change-agent.
  • Positively leading and influencing the team to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.
  • Overseeing the practice of all health and safety procedures, ensuring that safety is employees’ top priority.
  • Leading a safe operation of the business unit and comply with legal, legislative and corporate safety requirements.
  • Leading the Operations team to deliver results and ensure that team members meet site goals and objectives.
  • Planning, directing and coordinating the ordering and distribution of products, parts, and accessories. Ensuring adequate and timely distribution of these elements to attain maximum sales potential consistent with good inventory control.
  • Ensuring tracking and use of key performance indicators to promote improved operational and business results.
  • Behaves and manages in line with company ethics and values.
  • Conducting  employee appraisals, reviews and development discussions and  in line with local and global policy
  • Travelling to other global sites may be required
  • Ad hoc projects as required

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

  • 5+ years Operations/Manufacturing experience with 3+ manufacturing leadership experience preferred.  Experience of working in a Continuous Improvement is essential and demonstrated success in leading change.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Working knowledge of modern manufacturing, material flow and improvement strategies (e.g. lean manufacturing, continuous flow, cellular etc.) and the ability to integrate those into the operation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial systems and the key drivers within the manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organisational skills in strategy, communication at all levels and execution.
  • Strong leadership skills.  Ability to lead, contribute, and influence others in a team-based organization
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills.
  • Good language skills with fluency in both English and Norwegian is required
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and function specific software.
  • Excellent organisational and people skills, project management skills, with an ability to openly convey information to team members in a timely, concise manner
  • Ability to be mobile and travel within the role.
