Deputy Construction Manager, Nyhamna

On behalf of our client a leading operator in the Oil & Gas industry, we are looking for a Deputy Construction Manager at Nyhamna.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Nyhamna is the Gas Processing Plant for the offshore Ormen Lange gas field. Its current production amounts to 60 million Sm3/d which is exported to the UK to provide up to 20% of the UK national supply.
The Polarled Development is a pipeline and field development from the northern Norwegian sea which will bring additional gas into the Nyhamna plant.
The Nyhamna Expansion project serves two purposes. It provides onshore compression for the existing Ormen Lange field and allows production of significant gas volumes from the Polarled development.

The Deputy Construction Manager is responsible for the safe, timely and efficient execution of onsite construction scope with minimum disturbance to gas production and to the nearby communities.
A large part of the construction work is taking place in a live plant environment. The work includes extensive civil work, part of the pipeline scope and all other technical disciplines
including the installation and hook-up of 3 compressors all in excess of 38 MW. The work is executed under an EPCm contract.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Safe and timely execution of a part of the on-site construction scope.
• Responsibility for site work outside normal working hours.
• Provide practical implementation of safe working practices.
• Maintain and develop a safety and performance oriented site organization from site preparation up to Mechanical Completion.
• Deliver the project construction scope in accordance with set milestones.

POSITION DIMENSIONS:

The Nyhamna Expansion project is a multi billion USD Brownfield project and as such one of the largest EP projects of its kind in Royal Dutch Shell.
The project includes the installation of 15,000 tonne in modules and 5,000 tonne of site construction in a live plant in a beautiful part of Norway.
The envisaged number EPCm contractor and subcontractor personnel is 1000 executing several million manhours of construction work.
Aside from managing the safe and timely construction of the plant the successful candidate is responsible for keeping a good working relationship
with Operations.
The position offers an exciting construction challenge. The construction part is planned to complete in 2016.

SPECIAL CHALLENGES:

Construction management in a complex brownfield setting. No change mindset.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

The plant is located in a beautiful area in one of the islands between the Norwegian fjords near Kristiansund.

EXPERIENCEES & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Technical discipline background with proven construction delivery experience.
• Some experience on working inside a live plant environment either onshore or offshore is a major benefit.
• Evidence of cultural sensitivity.

CANDIDATES SHOULD BE SKILLED IN:

• Develop / Implement construction
• Processes Manage Project Interfaces
• Manage the Schedule and Resource Plan Set up and manage project teams
• Provide leadership in HSSE
• Apply effective management of HSSE risk.
