CCIS will become one of the largest academic research groups in information and cyber security in Europe, and will establish itself as a national resource and contact point for the nation's international partners. CCIS will be actively embedded in the global research community and have English as working language. NISlab operates a number of study programmes on Bachelor, Master and PhD levels dedicated to information security, and is also charged with leading the national research school in information security, COINS.  

The center partners include Eidsiva, Gjøvik University College, Ministry of Justice and Public Security (JD), Mnemonic, National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (ØKOKRIM), National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos), Norwegian ID Centre (NID), National Police Directorate (POD), National Security Authority (NSM), NC-Spectrum, Norwegian Centre for Information Security (NORSIS), Norwegian Cyber Defence, Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), Norwegian Defence Cyber Academy (FIH), Norwegian Police University College (PHS), Oppland County (OFK), Oslo Police District, Police Security Service (PST), PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Statkraft AS, Statnett SF and Telenor.

GUC is a modern, research-focused institution with around 3100 students and 350 employees of 34 different nationalities.

We are seeking a strongly motivated Director of the Center for Cyber and Information Security (CCIS). The Director will be responsible for the implementation, development and operation of the center, including developing its relationship with its partners, various branches of government, funding agencies and the general public.  

Job description

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in CCIS and coordinating with the activity in NISlab, partner institutions and others .
  • Develop the research groups in CCIS (currently within biometrics, critical information infrastructure protection, cyber defence, cyber crime investigation, and information security management).
  • Develop CCIS as a consortium, deepening the relationship with the partners (currently 21 partners from public and private sector), and bringing in new partners.
  • Secure further third party funding for CCIS

 

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of experience and strong track record in research management, development of research groups or research program administration.
  • Ability to coordinate and develop consortias including public and private partnership organizations.
  • Understanding of, and experience with Norwegian, European and International research funding organizations and their funding schemes.
  • Must master both Norwegian and English as business language.
