Local Unit & Position Description

The Section for Concrete Structures and Geotechnics is a part of Department Marine Structures which consists of 150 skilled and enthusiastic engineers. We are offering services within new and existing offshore and onshore energy related installations as well as complex infrastructure worldwide.
Typical services in our Section include:
- Verification/certification of concrete structures / grouted connections
- Independent analysis
- Construction follow-up/review of construction procedures
- Material Qualification/Certification
- Structural integrity assessment
- Risk based in-service inspection (planning and follow-up)
- Re-assessment and life time extension studies
- Failure investigations
- Platform removal studies
- Joint Industry Projects
- Laboratory testing and development of design methodologies
- Qualification of new concepts and technologies
- Development of rules and standards
- Consequence assessment and trouble shooting
The Section for Concrete Structures and Geotechnics delivers the above services for:
- Offshore concrete structures for oil/gas production
- Large/complex infrastructure projects, such as underground railway systems, tunnels and bridges
- LNG/LPG export/import terminals offshore including storage tanks
- Floating concrete structures
- Ports and terminals
- Onshore and offshore wind turbine supports
- Submarine pipelines
- Fish farms
- Wave energy structures
We are currently mobilizing our staff to meet the challenges within large concrete structures and are seeking experienced structural engineers with more than 15 years’ experience within concrete structures, in general, and offshore gravity based structures, in particular.
The staff is highly competent within structural assessments and analyses, and cooperates closely with other units in DNV GL forming multidisciplinary teams. Our projects cover a variety of work tasks and involve close working relationships with our customers.
The successful candidates will:
- Perform technical work in integrated multidisciplinary project teams providing expert opinion
- Work in the Norwegian as well as the international market
- Mentor junior staff
- Execute business development and sales
- Drive innovation in the Section
Position Qualifications
We are looking for candidates that have:
- Strong technical background and experience with concrete structures corresponding to at least a Master of Science degree or similar and 15+ years’ experience with concrete structures. Experience within numerical nonlinear analyses would be an advantage
- Recent experience with offshore concrete structures
- Business development mindset, good communication skills and customer focus
- Full command of a Scandinavian language (preferably Norwegian). Although our business language is English, successful candidates are expected to report both in Norwegian and English
- A solution oriented mindset and design experience
- Strong links with universities and presence in technical committees is considered an advantage
