Head of Project Control

Projects is a specialized and dedicated project organization in Hydro. Our main tasks are to develop and execute investments projects in a structured, efficient, and predictable way. Projects provides project management services to all Business Areas in Hydro. The main portfolio today includes hydro power and aluminium plants in Norway and projects in Brazil within the mining and process industry.

We are looking for a replacement for the Head of Project Control. The position offers the possibility to combine good discipline knowledge and management skills.

The Project Control department is responsible for providing competence within cost estimating, cost control, planning, project accounting and document management.

Area of Responsibility

The Head of Project Control is a member of the Projects Management Group, reporting to the Head of Projects and responsible for:

• Cost estimating, cost control, planning, reporting, project accounting in investment projects
• Running management processes; business strategy, portfolio management, business planning and reporting
• Driving financial processes and reporting
• Document management systems and processes
• Coordination of internal IS/IT activities
• Hydro’s investment approval process - Capital Value Process

Furthermore, the Head of Project Control shall:

• Develop and maintain competent resources, procedures, best practices, systems, and tools within the areas of responsibility
• Ensure the professional execution of studies and projects including systematic experience handling
• Ensure that all work follows Hydro’s steering documents and work processes
• As part of the Projects Management Group participate in developing the Projects’ organization to maintain a leading edge within project management, and take part in Projects yearly Strategy and Business Plan process

Qualifications

• MSc or equivalent science/technology
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience from industrial projects / management positions
• Good knowledge of, and experience with planning and cost control systems combined with management skills
• Good understanding of engineering, construction, and project management processes
• Demonstrated leadership skills including resource management and development of people and teams
• Proactive HSE attitude
• Creative and pro-active in change and improvement processes
• Fluent in Norwegian and English, both oral and written

Additional Information

You shall be prepared to work as a Project Control Manager in projects both domestic and abroad if required. Hence, we are looking for a person who is comfortable with working and travelling in an international environment.

The place of employment will be Oslo.
