The Department of Civil Engineering and Energy Technology has a vacancy for a professor in Structural analysis and design of buildings and structures.
We are looking for a candidate who will make an active contribution to strengthening the academic and research work at the department. The candidate is expected to take a key role in the development of the academic communities' research competence and be involved in the university college's research community in general.
The candidate will be responsible for further developing the department’s education in defined research field. The department is currently developing a master’s degree programme in Structural Engineering. Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, and several research groups have been established, participating in national and international research projects.
Duties:
- planning, development, teaching and supervision of students primarily at Master’s and PhD degree level. However, some teaching of bachelor level students should be expected
- initiating and conducting research and development work within the research topics of the department, dissemination of research results
- active search and development of applications for research funding
- strengthening the academic and research work in the field of structural analysis and design of buildings and structures
- active contribution to the development of high quality education
- active contribution to development of the department
- some administrative tasks should be expected
Qualifications:
- PhD in structural engineering (structural analysis and design) or similar.
- comprehensive and in depth knowledge in the field of structural analysis and design of buildings and structures.
- experience in design of concrete and/or steel structures according to Eurocode.
- documented research work and publications within the broader topic of safety and service life of structures.
- experience of initiating and managing research projects as well as from international research collaboration.
- experience in teaching and supervision at university college/university level.
- fluency in English is expected. Fluency in a Scandinavian language is an advantage. The candidate is expected to master Norwegian language within three years of being appointed.
- experience from the industry within design and construction of buildings and structures is an advantage.

Candidates who have no relevant qualifications in pedagogy at the time of appointment must commit themselves to complete HiOA’s programme for basic pedagogical competence (15 ECTS credits) within two years.
Trial lecture will be required in connection with a personal interview.

Remuneration
The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay for state employees: job code 1013 Professor, NOK 686.500 – 882.500. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
